Calling all Volunteers!

The time has come to start to transition the duties of electronic timekeeping to a new generation of skater parents. Hugh Morrison has had this duty for a long time and this is the season where we need to see Hugh training a new team and ensuring that OSSA has the right resources in place for future seasons. His countless hours of volunteer time and effort will be missed, but as Keri continues to rise to new heights, Hugh logically wants to be there to support her.
We would like to build electronic timing teams in the East and West of the Province. Ideally the volunteers will be parents of skaters who regularly skate at the Gold - Ontario Cup level as it is OSSA’s goal that all Gold and Platinum meets will have electronic timing in place in order that these times can be used for ranking purposes to more senior level meets.
The equipment requires careful set-up and take-down and its operation requires an attention to detail and a willingness to be completely impartial. The time dedication at a meet would see the team being at the arena early on the Saturday setting up and a bit later on Sunday tearing down.
This is an excellent way for parents to get involved in the sport who enjoy the technical side of life and who have been looking for something to volunteer for that won’t see them pushing mats or filling buckets of water!
If you are interested, please send an email to OSSA letting us know that you would like to be considered and what club you represent. We will then work to put some teams together and organize training sessions at the earlier Gold level meets this season with Hugh.
Thank you very much for your continued support of our sport!
