Quest for Gold Athlete Assistance Program 2019-2020 Update

As a result of the cancellation of the remaninig domestic competitions, we will be reviewing the ranking process. The updated process will be posted on the website as soon as it is available. The deadline to submit an application has NOT changed. Please submit all required information by MARCH 31, 2020. 

Quest For Gold-Ontario Athlete Assistance Program 2019-2020 

The Quest for Gold Athlete Assisance Program 2019-2020 Athlete Selection Criteria is now available. 

Athletes must submit all required information to the OSSA Executive Director Mary Frances Carter at executivedirector@ontariospeedskating.ca no later than Tuesday March 31, 2020.

Pleaser review the Athlete Selection Criteria carefully, late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.  

A DRAFT LIST of nominated athletes will be posted by April 8, 2020. 

 

Program Description

The Quest for Gold Program was established to provide additional support to athletes from Ontario and to increase the performance and number of Ontario athletes competing at the highest national and international levels, thereby contributing to the improved performance of Canada at international competitions.

Specific objectives of the program are:

  • To help athletes continue their pursuit of athletic excellence at the highest levels of national and international competition;
  • To encourage athletes to stay in Ontario to live and train;
  • To compensate athletes for earnings lost while training;
  • To enable athletes to successfully pursue excellence in sport while fulfilling their educational goals;
  • To increase athlete access to high performance coaching; and
  • To enhance training and competitive opportunities available to athletes.
