Notice - Courses before April 2011
The Coaching Development Committee would like to make members who have participated in coach training aware that persons who attended Fundamentals Coach or Introduction to Competition courses prior to August 2011 may have had their practical evaluation fee included in the registration fee.
Evaluations are encouraged to be completed within 6 months of attending a course. OSSA will no longer track the evaluation fees from courses offered 2 or more years ago. As such, coaches who may have paid an evaluation fee prior to August 2011 will again have to pay the $75 evaluation fee directly to their evaluator.
Should you have any questions or concerns please contact a member of the Coaching Development Committee or contact our Sport Manager.
Process to become a Speed Skating Coach in Ontario
Club coaches at speed skating clubs across Ontario are volunteers who introduce beginners to the sport of speed skating and guide a skater as they improve their technique and develop the skills necessary to compete. Club coaches organize the on ice activities for each club and provide the programs and instruction so that skaters can improve their technique in a safe and supportive environment.
Speak to either a coach or a member of the club executive at your local speed skating club. They can provide advice on the the coaching needs and opportunities at you local club. If you are interested in taking a course please visit the Speed Skating Canada Coaching Program Guidelines to find out more about the different courses available.
